5 ways to get out of your comfort-zone…comfortably

5 ways to get out of your comfort-zone…comfortably. So that you reach your potential! Yes I did say comfortably.

What did I just promise you? Something that you probably never thought to be possible. It is very much possible and I will show you how. Soon. First let me just point out that there is a time and a place for you to also force yourself out of the comfort-zone forcefully. But it isn’t always the best case. In case you have missed my posts on comfort-zone don’t check it after reading this one! Bye Bye Bye comfort-zone and Comfort-zone is necessary

Back to the topic at hand: Why should you sometimes do it in a comfortable way? Sometimes we have so much resistance to change, aka leaving the comfort-zone that we simply won’t move if the step isn’t small enough. So that is why I suggest these 5 comfortable steps.

One – Switch up something in your routine! (Success Magazine)

Do something small. Do you always wake up at 6? Wake up at 5.50. Ten minutes can give you just enough extra time to not rush. If you already wake up supper early, maybe make a different breakfast, or you go to the store by walking. Or perhaps instead of typing a message to your friend you call them up. Even a small change can be good for you. Try it. If what I Tell me in the comments what you will try or have tried 🙂

Two – Accept help or ask for it

Accept help from others while you try to work towards a goal. For example, if you want to run a marathon. Try and get a friend to join you with the training and the marathon itself. Having a friend on the journey with you helps you to have more fun and for the goal not to seem so crazy/fear inducing.

Small changes now, will make your life look totally different in the future.

Three – Keep your feet on the ground… for now!

Make realistic goals for leaving your comfort zone. If you have never done any type of sport. You probably shouldn’t start with an extreme sport. Start with a group lesson or maybe just taking a walk. All exercise is good exercise.

Four– Ones step at a time

Work on only one area at once. So if you want to be out of comfort zone with routines. Concentrate on that first. Then it can be fitness. This doesn’t mean you are stuck till the end of time on one area. Maybe after 2 weeks of making slight changes to your routines, you can work on fitness, then maybe reading a book genre that you usually wouldn’t read. Then maybe upping the goal from routines changed for 2 week, make it 30 days. And so on.

Before checking my last tip. Do you have any great tips to get out of your comfort-zone to reach your potential? Share them for others to see!

Five – Girls (and boys) just want to have fun!

Have fun with this. Comfort zone is a very very very boring place to live in on long term. When you hear monitor plateaus you are declared dead. Why doesn’t this apply to real life? This doesn’t mean you can’t have fun. It is actually the opposite. You should have fun, because it will make you less resistant to getting out of your comfort-zone.

Here are my 5 ways to get out of your comfort-zone to reach your potential

What are your tips for this topic? Please let me know if you want me to write about the opposite side; how to make radical leaps out of comfort-zone?! I actually really like the idea! Anyway until the next post!

Keep working on being the best you!

Positivity doesn’t equal being delusional

#Bodypositivity #deathpositive #drugpositve #serialkillerpositve. FIRST THINGS FIRST

I AM part of the positivity movement. I AM a positive person. I AM a fucking spiritual person who believes in Law of Attraction (we can debate that another time) but I AM NOT delusional. And you shouldn’t be either.

Being positive about something doesn’t mean you should close your eyes from facts. If I get run over by a car, no amount of Law of Attraction will stop me from dying if my injuries are fatal.

No amount of body positivity will take away your risks of heart failure or joint failure if you are obese. NOW before you start attacking me ever so “politely” in the comments saying I shame people. Absolutely I do not. If you are happy in your body and you accept the health risks, or you aren’t happy and you work hard to make sure you turn your life around. I will treat you the same. But please for the love of God do not tell people bullshit stories about how no matter what you can be healthy and that no matter what positivity is 100% the answer.

If drug positivity or alcohol positivity, serial killer positivity etc etc etc would be movements we wouldn’t stand by them. The word positivity isn’t going to change the result of something.

Where does positivity 100% make a great impact?

When you have a positive mindset about being able to change your life for the better. When you talk positively about people to people, and don’t concentrate on other peoples shortcomings, what ever those are. Taking the time to see the good in the world. The beautiful fucking butterfly, the cute ass dog/cat. Meditating while believing that this day is going t be great and taking the time and effort to see the positive things in your day. This will make life amazing. It will give you power, instead of taking away the power. It will make sure that you can be proactive instead of reactive.

Positivity shouldn’t be a cover up. You don’t have to pretend to be happy if you are depressed. But you don’t have to start a “depression positive” movement, to counter act that having a depression is a serious issue. If you are depressed you should seek help, it can be a friend, family member or someone with a medical degree. The word positive doesn’t erase the original meaning of the world.

Great idea, but what about the implimentation?

Body positivity is a great movement. Shaming anyone for having a different body that someone else, is a despicable thing to do. A) When you shame someone you hurt them and they retreat into their shell and can end up being even more unhealthy. B) Shaming and scaring people isn’t going to make them change, that is why horrible pictures on cigarette packets don’t make people want to quit smoking.

So should we incorporate more positivity into the world of fitness? Yes. You don’t have to be size 0 to be healthy. You don’t have to have six pack abs. You don’t have to have the same goal as me or a body builder. But you should do everything in power of being “health positive”. Health doesn’t look the same for everyone. But there are limits to what healthy is, and we should be aware of that. No matter how much it sucks that burgers aren’t healthy, that sugar doesn’t have any nutritional value or that if you don’t move you are in a way bigger risk for different health issues.

Ending on a positive note 😉

I love all people. No matter shape, size, color, religion, sexual orientation, gender and all of the other ways people can be shamed. I also happen to love the power we have as people to make changes in our lives. It requires effort, and it take time to change your life. But no matter what you can do it. You just have to see a reason for it. And living a fulfilling, long life with meaning and great experiences, seems like a good fucking reason to do it… wouldn’t you say?

Leave a comment bellow with your opinions on it. Let’s have this conversation. Let’s be positive yet realistic about it! Don’t hesitate to also follow me on my social media and join the community <3

How this quote can change your life?

I love this quote. It is so simple, fun and so very true. I mean who doesn’t love a quote that rhymes but is still smart?

Fun and smart!

If you follow my Facebook page you would have seen this quote already. So if you don’t follow the page yet, go ahead and check it out here: Facebook

How can this quote change your life?

If you live by the rule of this quote it becomes very simple. Just do a bit more. When you are good at something change the goal to being better at it and after that best at it. Of course you get to chose what those things are and no one is telling you to become the best at everything. But striving for something better everyday is a great way to change your life.

Instead of just laying in bed today go on a walk. It is better than what you had in plans. Instead of doing only 8 reps at the gym do 9 this time. Instead of accepting that you study a language only 15 minutes today, study it for 30 minutes. Push yourself just a bit more. Not till you drop. So obviously listen to your body. But don’t make it an excuse. Instead of turning the TV on, you can just learn couple of more words from the language you want to learn or something similar.

Which quote motivates you? Leave it in the comments! I would love to read them!

Clearing up personal development

What is personal development? Get rich fast scheme. Work non stop till you drop so you can die becoming a millionaire. Well, I am sure someone could think of it that way… but no.

I am very fascinated with personal development. But I think there is a misconception that there is one way of doing personal development. And that just isn’t accurate. It is call personal for a reason. It is the development you instill in yourself. And it can look different for different people.

If someone would ask what I think personal development is, I would say it is someone working on their weaknesses and getting out of the comfort zone. There must be a part which is not comfortable to you. Because those things that are easy and nice to do, don’t make you grow. They are still important to have in your life, but they don’t make you grow (sorry)

How ever what you do in order to grow is up to you. It could be traveling; there is so much to learn about yourself and the world with traveling. It forces you to think about your finances and it makes you be more organized, since ofc. you don’t want to miss your train/bus/plane etc.

It can just as well be reading books on the topics that you don’t know. It can be fitness, it can be going to courses. Anything. But you have to do it well.

I started personal development about 5 ish years ago. And I can’t say I have come far. Not because I have some extremely hard story to tell. Simply because I haven’t before given my all to working on myself. You can always find something to work on. But it is very easy to come up with excuses. Just like with anything. And I sure did.

Personal development is very important. It requires self discipline and awareness. You must realize what you must change or work on in yourself and stick to it. That isn’t easy. But if you want to go from where you are to somewhere better. Something that you have dreamed about, you must work on yourself.

Why do I think it is extremely important? We as a society constantly look at everyone else. Judging and saying how everyone else is so dumb and “I would have done it better”…would you have? I mean maybe. If so then just go and do those things differently. Work hard to make sure you can make a change. If we work on ourselves to be the best us we can be. Then things we achieve when we come all together are magnificent.

Many broken people aren’t going to make a full society. So working on ourselves is way more important than pointing fingers at others.

What should you work on? Leave in the comments! 🙂

Music

Ahhhh music… I don’t know what I would do without it… I swear music makes everything amazing. Anyway, in general in music, I like deeper more melancholic music right now. Not sad music, just not upbeat like I used to. (Tho I love some pop to dance to once in a while 😉 ) But right now my favorite singer of all time is LP go listen to her here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wDjeBNv6ip0&list=RDMM&start_radio=1

Learning

  1. I love listening to Audio Books on Scribd. It is a platform with books, audiobooks, and magazines on any topic. It is pretty affordable considering how many books you can get for the one monthly price of about 8 €/ month (not sponsored)
  2. Skillshare: With less than 100 € a year you get an unlimited amount of courses. The topics go from learning the coding language to painting with watercolors. Learning about business to writing better. Languages, business and pretty much anything else ( oh and if you are great at something you can make a course yourself as well!)

Fitness

I have been so lazy for pretty much most of my life. Now I am back on track going to the gym and taking lessons! I love my gym. It has so much variety classes range from dance to yoga to muscle training and obviously, in the gym itself, you can work out anything you want.

Comment down below what your favorite things are right now. And also should I make this a recurring monthly post? What do you guys think?

Thanks for reading

5 steps back

This is a post to reminiscent the “good old days”. This is not to say that the current days aren’t good. They are, just different. Why am I talking about this? I thought I would go back in time. As much as I can. And work on things I used to like. I had a lot of them. But I am going to choose 5.

Doing art. I loved painting and working with clay. I don’t think I will go back to art school (I used to go in a hobby sense) but I can do almost anything at home too.

Writing poetry. I loved to write poetry. It is so simple and short and you get to pour your heart out it a couple of sentences. I mean sure it can be long as well but it isn’t the same thing as writing a 500-page book.

Being outside without distraction. Like music in my ears. Don’t get me wrong. If I go out for a walk I love listening to music and it gives a rhythm for my steps too. But listening to the sounds of nature… it is so relaxing and takes you to the moment at hand, something that especially right now is very rare.

Dancing. I miss dancing. I mean once in a while I’ll dance like a crazy person in my own room while no one can see me. But I don’t do it enough. Plus I could go to dancing classes and actually improve too.

Climbing. When I was younger I would climb all the time. Everything. I loved it. And I might now be able to get away from doing it the “normal” way but I can go to climbing parks and hey it works on my fitness as well.

What are some of the things you used to do but quit for a reason or another? Leave down in the comments 🙂 Share this post and like it if you like it 😛 It helps me see how I’m doing as a blogger 😉

As always thanks for reading and see you in the next post.

10 next things I want to do/achieve

1) Read 4 books a month (or more if you are feeling extra) – This is not to say that I have to read 3 books with 500 pages. One of the books could be a poem collection, one could be a longer book based on fiction and since I am at the stage in my studies that I have to write my final work, I will have to read for that too.

2) Act according to what you read Whether you learn something from a book or a youtube video or from a friend. The only way you will actually change your life with that knowledge is if you implement it to your life.

3) Go to the gym 4 times a week ( this won’t be easy for me) I really want to get my fitness back on track. I do not feel like I am at my best and I want to lose a little bit of my body fat and gain muscle. I really don’t want to be overboard and become a bodybuilder (nothing wrong if that is your goal tho) but I really want to get my health better.

4) Get things done even when I don’t feel like it.  I can’t say that this will happen every day without a fault. But imagine how much you can achieve if you do everything you say you will.

5) See my friends more often but with something interesting planned. I do not think we need to go always for coffee. Or even be at my or their place. I really think we could make more memories that will stick after 10 years too.

6) Make a bit more effort with friendships. I do not mean that I would be a bad friend… I hope not. But I could make a bit more of an effort. Make a card for a birthday. Remember to send them something once in a while even if you would be busy and so on.

7) Make an effort to get to know other people What is better than to meet new people and learn new things. It is comfortable to always just see the same friends. And they are great, but especially if you want to achieve new things then that is easiest to be done by learning new things from new people.

8) Spend only up to 1 hour a day online Not counting work, because at work  I am quite a bit online and on the computer. But free time online shouldn’t be more than that per day. Apart from the weekends. I think I can’t let myself be online a bit more then (especially if I want to keep writing a blog too)

9) Eat out less and eat healthier. I want to eat fewer foods with flour. I want to eat more greens and fruits. Maybe making my work food always vegan, if possible. I am not vegan and don’t really have a plan to become one. But eating less milk and meat-based products couldn’t be bad. Eat way fewer things with sugar or extra fat.

10) Spend less money. I am horrible with money. I spend a lot of money on food, and mostly food that isn’t healthy. So, if I want to go out to eat, it shouldn’t be more often than once a month. If I go out more often I should only go for coffee and not buy anything more than that. Get a snack from the store before or eat before going for coffee.

5 things I will invest in next year (2019)

  1. Gym membership; I have a gym close by that costs about 20€ per month to go to, and group lessons are included so I think it is a pretty good deal. And if you consider taking even 4 classes a month that is only 5€ per class, and at least by Finnish standard that is already pretty cheap. If you on top of that actually also use the gym and go a bit more often on the group lessons, 20€ won’t seem like a lot.
  2. Some good gym clothes. I don’t like the shoes I use and I definitely do not feel comfortable in the clothes I have usually used for gym. If it is all women exercise class I couldn’t give a f**** but if its mixed or if I am just at a gym I want to feel comfy and look semi put together (I end up looking like a tomato so it isn’t as if I can look amazing, but still. You gotta work with what you have.
  3. Some good quality “capsule wardrobe” clothes. So clothes that will 100% fit with everything. I really don’t need anything that fancy. Thankfully I don’t have to wear a uniform during work and I have clothes to wear when I need to be a bit more put together. However, I feel I don’t have clothes that would make me feel 100% bomb, even if I would put them on in only 2 minutes. And I want something that simple. A simple white t-shirt with black jeans and some simple accessories, a bit of mascara and out we go. 😉 Simple yet cute. I don’t want it to be the items that cost only 2€ and then I have to buy a new one every week. So I am OK with investing into staple pieces that will last me for years.
  4. I am cheating a bit, but since I got myself a computer and then I got my phone as a gift I will count them as investments for the next year because mostly it was so that work would be more efficient for me. So I will imagine it counts 😀
  5. Manicures…maybe. I don’t know how often and if I can find some place that makes them cheap but good, but I really want to get my nails sorted…. they not cute. So I have always had very thing fragile nails and when I put on nail polish (even if it’s not a cheap brand) it will chip off. With all of the base layers and top coats and all. Still, it just won’t stay on. And I hate chipped nail-polish more than anything. Plus maybe if my nails would be protected with a proper gel polish or even acrylic nails, I could grow them long enough to give them a shape…

Thanks for reading as always. What would you want to invest in next year? Leave a comment down below.

Goals, Health

Change my life in 365

Let’s be really really realistic here. I will not achieve every single goal that I want in 365 days. But I have until May 12, 2019, to change some shit in my life fundamentally. I will not take credit for this idea. I was inspired by Dottie Jame a YouTuber with this video she posted a while back, and I saw a while back as well. (Check the video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qlhtued3OEw)  But today is when I want to officially start my journey.

I will sound harsh in this post, but I don’t want you to think that I hate myself or that there isn’t love in the relationship I have with myself. It is exactly that love that is pushing me to change who I am rapidly becoming the person I actually want to be.

I suck:  I seriously am bad in some of the most important things in my life

  1. My eating habits
  2. My fitness
  3. My sleep rhythm
  4. I tell myself I will do xyz but I don’t do them for more than 2 days.
  5. I pity myself
  6. I blame everything and everyone else in my life, except myself.
  7. I am not organized
  8. I don’t actually try and I’m lazy

I’m in a vicious cycle and it is all my own fault

I am good at: It isn’t all bad.

  1. When I have to do something I commit to it
  2. I am there for my friends
  3. Even if it takes a while I admit when I am wrong
  4. Once I get past a certain point I no longer sugarcoat things
  5. I am passionate even if my other life choices have dimmed the light
  6. I realize I have to change

What are my goals for the next 365 days?

Really I have just one goal. Get my energy back. I have been energetic when I have been younger (and I’m 22 now, so it wasn’t that long ago). I would be headstrong and I wouldn’t let anything stand in the way. But at somepoint, I started to listen to other people’s opinions and voices and they became my voice. And I am not blaming anyone, because I have let other people’s  approval dictate who I should or shouldn’t be.

In order to get my energy back I have certain things I must do:

  1. Change my diet
  2. Start exercising by doing what I actually enjoy doing
  3. Having a routine and folloing through with it.

Now I am fully aware that I will not change all of that right away and there are days that I will fall off my path.

Regarding my diet, I swear that I will never be able to only eat healthy food. Not because I wouldn’t be capable. But because I just don’t want that kind of limitation for my life. If I go out with my friends and I want that burger, Imma eat that burger. On average I want my diet to be mostly healthy.

Exercising will also be a challenge because it has been so long since I have done it properly. I am not going to promise 6 times a week gym sesh. Its good if I will make it to the gym two times a week. Because I don’t like the gyms that much (mostly because I have no clue what I am doing) Forming a daily routine that I will actually stick to is going to be a killer for sure.

I am sure we have all heard of how habits are formed. Good or bad. How the brain’s neurons literally form pathways so that those habits are easier for us to access. This means that in order for me to change those habits I have to fight against the brain’s natural inclination on doing what is the easiest for us. So eating fries because making a salad is slower or laying in bed instead of going for a walk/ gym session. Rather watch netflix instead of actually working on the projects you have and so on.

Oh boy is this going to be one crazy journey for me!  And it will be a hard one too. Wish me luck and you are welcome to join me on this journey as well. If you will leave a comment telling what your goal(s) for the next 365 days will be.

xoxo

How to relax and why?

Hello my lovely readers, I have been on a short, much needed break and now I am back inspired and ready to write. So let’s get to this posts topic; relaxation, de-stressing, calming your mind, battling anxiety and all that not so fun stuff that everyone of us goes through in some form. But we can make the process fun.

A disclaimer before I get to my post, everyone is different. What works for me might not for you and sometimes we have to tweak some things to fit our own needs, so do not take my words as the law but as a guidance towards the right direction, let’s begin!

  1. Calming scents:  There are many calming scents. Most we know, lavender, chamomile, Vanilla, sandalwood. For me the most relaxing scent is the fresh air right after rain, and there is actually scientific proof that this scent helps calm the mind. For more information visit this site: http://www.livescience.com/49520-smell-of-rain-aerosols.html. It is quite easy to incorporate these scents into your life. Candles, teas, aromatherapy and walks in the nature are just some that come to mind right away. More about aromatherapy here: http://www.aromatherapy.com/
  2. Relaxing by listening:  I find calming music, the sound of rain or thunder or just water (river, waterfall etc.), birds (real or on a play list),relaxes me extremely well. But also just sitting in silence can be healing for the mind. Just find what is the best solution for you at each given time.
  3. Habits to calm your mind: Sometimes you have to incorporate more than just one thing in order to find peace so I have great combinations for you.
    1. Take a nice walk in the nature while having some essential oil(lavender, chamomile, vanilla) on your wrists,  and the pulse points on your neck.
    2. Take a relaxing bath and read a good book, drink some tea or coffee (with no caffeine would be best.) . More about the therapeutic benefits of reading here: http://www.thereader.org.uk/media/72227/therapeutic_benefits_of_reading_final_report_march_2011.pdf.
    3. Meditate, there are amazing amounts of ways to meditate and I am a strong advocate to finding your own. I myself prefer to mix how I meditate. Sometimes if I find it hard to calm my mind I will listen to a meditation, so I can come back to the voice guiding me, but for example before sleep I like to do a mindfulness meditation, and I try to concentrate on my breath. I prefer this before sleep, because the voice won’t wake me up, if I accidentally fall asleep while meditating. (Which is perfectly acceptable, btw) For guided meditation you can go to YouTube and more information about mindfulness meditation over here: http://www.health.harvard.edu/blog/mindfulness-meditation-may-ease-anxiety-mental-stress-201401086967

There is so many more things you can do. The best way is to do your own research, I hope the links I have above help you get started. Get excited about your health. Relaxing and de-stressing is one of the most important things you can do for your health. A calm body and mind will keep your immune system working up to par. Thanks for reading, please comment  if you have ideas to add or what helps you relax ^^
